KILLBOT ZERO
was originally formed in 2003 under the name Progzilla and
consisted of Bruce Vermett on drums, Chris Cavera on guitar, Dan
Huber on bass, and Tony Eyer on keyboards. We wrote music,
we practiced, but we never left the comfort of Bruce's Mom's
basement. Bruce left to go to school in LA and the band
disbanded. After returning, Bruce and Chris reformed and
continued to rock progressively. Dan had moved to Chicago and
Tony had no time for bands. The sonic voids left by the
departing members were filled with the help of MIDI sequencing
software and an MP3 player. We continue to write, record, and
perform the music we love.

Bruce
began playing drums at age 16. He performed in various high
school bands including marching band, jazz band, and symphonic
band where he honed his rhythmic skills. It was during these
early years that he discovered the band Dream Theater and their
drummer, Mike Portnoy. Bruce studied progressive rock and
developed a love for odd time signatures and advanced
techniques. After high school, Bruce moved to Los Angles to
attend Frank Gambale’s LA Music Academy where he studied
percussion with some of the best session drummers in the
business. After completing his degree, Bruce moved back home to
Ohio where he rejoined KILLBOT ZERO. In the future he will
continue his education by earning a Bachelor’s degree in music
at Bowling Green State University.

Chris started playing drums around age 10 and got
involved in various school bands. In high school he was
president of the marching band and played snare. He also
participated in jazz band, concert band, and pep band. At the
age of 17 he bought his first guitar and amp for 30 bucks and
was instantly hooked. After high school he moved on to college
and earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Theory and Composition.
Chris married his college sweetheart in 1998 and moved to Ohio
to pursue a graduate degree in music. In 2000 he earned a
Master's degree in Composition. When not playing guitar with
KILLBOT ZERO, he can be found teaching classes in MIDI,
Recording, Composition, Guitar, and Percussion at a local
community college.
